Hi! My name is Vanessa. I have been working on a special project this Summer that I would love to share with you.
In April, our 7 year old cousin, Tucker, was diagnosed with cancer. I remember looking at my two boys and feeling overcome with sadness for his parents and for what they must have been going through. I knew I had to do something special for Tucker. I brainstormed for a week and came up with a plan. Someone from their home town came up with the phrase “Team Tucker” as a way to show support for Tucker and his fight against cancer.
I emailed my friends and family asking them to make a sign that said “Team Tucker”, snap a photo of them holding the sign, and then send me the photo. My plan was to create a photo book for Tucker. By doing this, Tucker could actually SEE all of the people who were thinking of him and supporting him.
One day, I came up with the idea of emailing the sports teams in Ohio, where Tucker lives, and asking them to help me with my project. I figured I would not hear back from many, but that it really didn’t hurt to ask! After a few months, I had heard back from almost every professional sports team in Ohio, Disney characters, Monster Jam truck drivers, the Governor of Texas (where I live), and SO many more! I was blown away by the response I received from people. It had spiraled in to so much more than I ever could have dreamed of. The experience was very heart warming.
This was my first time using Shutterfly and it was so easy. The book turned out wonderful and very professional. Tucker and his family really loved the photo book. Tucker can keep this book and treasure it always. As for me, I will always treasure the experience and how touching it was to create this small, yet powerful project for him.
