Shutterfly Personalized Photo Plates

My son is a singleton, an only child. When you wait until your 36 to get married, it doesn’t allow for a lot of time to have children. It’s never bothered my husband and I to only have one child and it’s never bothered my son. He wasn’t the kind of kid asking for a sibling, and still says he likes being an “only child”. I guess we’re lucky for being so content. Since he is an “only”, I couldn’t be more thrilled that he and my sisters son are very very close both in age and their relationship with each other. It warms my heart and settles my soul to know he will have close family relationships with both my niece and nephew into his adult years.

My sister lives in another state which doesn’t allow for them to hang out as much as possible, maybe only a couple of times a year. So for the past 10 years, we’ve been spending 2 or 3 weeks once school is out, vacationing at my sisters home where the boys never tire of each other and are constant buddies. This year for my son’s 14th birthday, I surprised my son by flying his cousin in for his party. He was stunned and has thanked me weekly for such a great surprise.

I thought it would be fun to capture their silly personalities onto photo plates [1] and create a fun dinner theme celebrating cousins! I have a feeling we’ll be using these plates a lot and I can’t imagine how sentimental these photo plates will become throughout the years. Not to mention a few opportunities for embarrassment.

I recreated a “photo booth” photography session by placing the boys in front of our white door, and told them to squeeze in, to get close. Which that alone caused a bit of chaos. I gave them prompts to capture their unique personalities and I couldn’t be happier with the results. My favorite is their “blue steel Zoolander” pose below.

Pretty much sums them up.

I may have to pack these plates up and take them with us for our traditional summer trip! I love these boys and I love how I captured their essence on these photo plates! I’m way more excited than I should be thinking of ways to use these plates either for dinners, picnics, or even home decor. I can’t wait til he has his first girlfriend over for dinner.
