Top 5 travel spots according to Gallery

One of my favorite Shutterfly Gallery [2] [1] features is its Search Engine, because it’s a wonderful way for me to take a vacation minus any delays or hassles. For example, did you know that if you select California (at the time I’m writing this), you will find 685 different books you can choose to look at?

But first, let’s go to Alaska. Of the 375 photo books posted to Shutterfly Gallery [2], I’ve picked a recent posting, “An Evans Alaska [3]” by MicheE. It has a lot going for it, and must be impressive to view in its 12×12 size.

The cover photo has a carefully planned visual perspective and fine composition.

The top photo on page 63 is another good example of this. Are you hoping to visit Alaska? Let this book lead the way.

Italy is another country that just about all of us wants to visit (593 photo books posted). I’ve picked “Mama Mia [4]” by DianeJ305. I love the image on page 15 because it reminds me of the Italy I’ve experienced…

…but I’ve picked a photo that I think (remember this is just my opinion!) would be improved by straightening – the one on page 2. If your imaging software doesn’t include a way to straighten your photos, I’d suggest you download the free Picasa software offered by Google. It can make some amazing improvements to your photos in a very easy and visual way.

Another popular travel destination (according to Shutterfly Gallery [2]) is Hawaii, with 659 books posted. I narrowed the field to the island of Kauai (121 books posted) and decided that “Kauai [5]” by NeilS40 was the one to share with you. Neil has successfully used a design template that demands a close look at the photos used, like the images on pages 2. He’s arranged them so that one photo does not block out important “information” in the second photo.

It surprised me to find 660 books posted on Mexico – what a wealth of goodies available for us to view. I’ll single out two terrific photos from “Mexico March 2009 [6]” by MarinaH6. The full page photo on page 6 shows impressive contrast between the cloudy sky and the sun-lit church…

…and the composition and perspective on page 15 says that this is “Not just another beach shot”.

Now, let’s go back to California and my selection from the 685 books available to view on Shutterfly. It is called “California [7]” and is by Rekus. The cover photo is a WOW to me…

…and then the title page (page 1) photo shows such a traffic-filled contrast to the beautiful silhouette that is on the cover. As the author tells us ”Enjoy California with me” and in looking at 168 photos on 78 pages, we can do just that.

Now that you’ve taken my virtual Gallery vacation, how about sharing yours? What travel books in Shutterfly Gallery inspire you?
