My 5 Favorite Travel Photos

I’ve been blessed over the last two years to be working for Delta Vacations, where I get to enjoy many vacation perks and travel for my job. I have been able to travel to a lot of different places and taken many pictures (building my first Shutterfly photo book very soon!) and I thought I would share with you my five favorite pictures from the last couple years. This task was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be because the photos bring back so many memories and sometimes the goofiest pictures are some of my favorite but I thought I would pick out destination/landscape pictures to avoid humiliating myself or my wife. It seems that my favorite pictures change everyday but as you will see my current faves all have to do with some sort of beach or water…can you tell I am sitting in the middle of winter in Minnesota?!

This picture was taken just last week when I was in the Riviera Maya, Mexico.  We stayed at the Iberostar Paraiso Maya resort.

This place was so beautiful and every time we turned a corner we took more pictures…probably enough to fill a whole Shutterfly album! This is a picture of our walk to the beach everyday and is currently on my background on my work computer to help me adjust to the cold. I love this picture because it actually makes me feel like I am walking down the boardwalk again and the colors just seem to pop with bright blue sky and ocean and the green in the trees and yellow on the chairs.  As you can probably see, I didn’t want to leave!

This next picture was taken in Hilton Head, SC.

We had just walked out of eating dinner and saw how beautiful the sun and the clouds looked over this little marina.  This was my attempt at getting a little artsy (I am far from a professional photographer) and trying to capture the essence of the harbor with the shrimp boat, docks and canoes in the picture.  I just love how you can see the sun rays shooting through the clouds.

Sometimes I look at this next picture and I just become relaxed. This was taken in Montego Bay, Jamaica at the Sandals Montego Bay beach.

It was a beach bed with soft towel sheets to lay on. This might have been the most comfortable and relaxed I have ever been! The time really does seem to move slower when you are down in Jamaica and I laid there for what seemed like hours without a care in the world.

This is another picture from Hilton Head but this time it is of the sunrise.

This was off of the beach in an area called Palmetto Dunes. We got up early and walked the beach to see what the sun looks like rising over the ocean. All I can say is that it is absolutely breath taking and is any photographer’s (or wannabe photographer in my case) dream. So many different colors and different shots you could take.

The last picture was taken just off the coast of St. Thomas on my honeymoon.

I love pictures of sailboats so needless to say I was so excited when I saw one sitting in the ocean with a cool rock formation behind it. What’s fun about this picture is that if you zoom in enough (at least the digital zoom on a camera, gets blurry on a computer screen) you can see the people in the sailboat looking through their binoculars and taking pictures of our cruise ship. Little do they know I was doing the same thing to them!

I hope you enjoyed taking a look some of my favorite pictures (at least until the next adventure) and I would love to hear about your favorite pictures so please feel free to share!

Sean, you are an incredible photographer. I love the story behind the sailboat – gorgeous shot, love the sun peeking out from the clouds with the rays beaming! Love the beach bed! Everything looks so awesome and if you are sitting in the middle of MN, we are neighbors as I’m in ND – such a bum deal about Vikings. But we won’t go there!
Thanks for sharing your photos and I look forward to your first of many books!

I love traveling as you do, Sean, and I love the way memories come back to me when I look through my photo books, now totaling somewhere north of 15! Like you, my favorite shots change and when I search out my photos in Picasa I’ll always find new favorites. Again, by using the free Picasa editing program, I change my desktop photo every week or so and that is another way to let me relive my travels. When you start publishing your photo books, think of designing them around themes.

Thanks for the compliments on the pictures everyone!

Joey- I was actually in Mexico during that game (1st picture in this post) and there was a big wedding group from ND and a group of MN so it was a lot of fun to watch the game with all those people in the sports bar. I actually grew up in Chicago so I am a Bears fan (hope that doesn’t change your opinion of me!) but I feel your pain since we lost in the Super Bowl a few years ago…

Earl – That’s a great tip, thank you!

Oh wow…not only are your photos great, but it sounds like you have a dream job! Needless to say, I’m jealous. My husband and I love to travel whenever we can, and I love creating a photo book each time we return. It’s such a great way to relive the memories!
