Intro to digital scrapbooking – Quick Pages

If you’ve noticed some unique photo books on Gallery that don’t match our Shutterfly templates, chances are you’ve come across books that have been digitally scrapped.

Digi scrapping is an electronic form of paper scrap booking, and is created using software instead of scissors, glue and paper. Although it looks intricate, the process can actually be very simple.
If like me you love the look of digital scrapbooking, but aren’t sure where to start, the best way to dip your toe into scrapbooking waters is through what are called QUICK PAGES.

Quick pages are ready-made backgrounds with special spaces to insert your photos – similar to the concept of Shutterfly photo book backgrounds. Basically you drag and drop your photograph into the QUICK PAGE template, and viola, it is complete.

They look great, are as easy to use, and come in all sorts of flavors.

This is my VERY FIRST attempt at a 12”x12” quick page using oscrap’s Defined Quick Album [2] – it only took a few minutes. I KNOW you can do it too. Just take a deep breath and go for it.

Check out designerdigitals.com [3], scrapgirls.com [4]scrappersguide.com [5], scrapwow.com [6], and scrapbookbytes.com [7] for easy to follow quick page instructions and videos.

Remember – you’ll need software that will allow you to digiscrap. Digitalscrapbookplace.com [8] has an easy to read software section that will help you choose what’s right for you. Best of all, it features links to free software trial versions.

If you feel like diving in and learning everything right NOW, check out these useful links. If you want to keep it simple, save these for later.

Now make that layered template page! And once it’s finished, be sure to print it out [14].  You can also combine your pages into a gorgeous digiscrapped photo book [15].

Also, be sure to check out our Celebrations Blog [16], your place for creative inspiration around digital design. See beautiful digiscrap kits from top digital designers, find digiscrapping advice, and get digiscrap freebies!
