School Year Memories

It’s drawing close to the end of the school year and it’s time to think about how you can create a yearbook or a teacher thank you gift with Shutterfly photo books. A couple of examples recently caught my eye that I wanted to share.

KarenY205’s Zero the Hero recognized a classroom volunteer that visits each classroom on days that end in ‘0’. This book captures some of his antics in pictures and combines them with remembrances from the students who have enjoyed his engaging lessons.

HeidiR37’s Wii Mii Project Album is a book created to raise money at a school auction. Each child gets a spread with a photo, self-portrait and information sheet they had filled out, as well as a Mii character. Not everyone will have the time to capture all of these different elements, but a portrait of each child along with a simple memory about the year may be attainable with the time left in the school year.

Finally Being a Teacher Makes a Difference is a beautifully digi-scrapped tribute to a teacher with quotes and poems about how teachers can make a difference.

I think its such a neat idea when parents give their sons or daughters teacher a photobook of the past school year. Its a great way for the teacher to remember all the great moments of the year and how special he/she was to their child. Plus its a nice keepsake for the student and look back on and remember their first grade year and so forth. I think i have seen the books you mentioned and love them. So creative,
    Thanks for sharing this article!

I have to say that is has been one of the most fulfilling gifts I have ever given. I have made a few photo books for my children’s teachers and I have to say to see the look on their faces when they turn each page has brought a tear to many an eye. It is really worth all of the hard work to give such a special gift.

more about Lara H

By way of introduction, I’m LaraH. I’m a long-time customer of Shutterfly (beginning in January 2000 with the birth of my first daughter) and now an employee (since mid-2004). I’ve been making photo books since we launched the product in June 2005, but in that time it has evolved from a work responsibility, to a hobby, and dare I say passion. Most of the books I make revolve around my children and our family journeys, so I thought it was a fitting way for you to get to know me better to see “ My First Photo Book.” http://community.shutterfly.com/gallery/post/start.sfly?postId=/gallery/1/post/GMGDBgyYNGLdg5ZgLl7Adq. It’s the story of my daughters’ first few years, told mostly through pictures.
