My secret to easy wedding planning

Well, you saw my post about the wedding planning photos and I’ve now turned them into a book! I used Simple Path, which created such a pretty layout for me. This was also my first 7×9 photo book and I have to say I’m loving it. I put it in my purse to show a friend three weeks ago and it has stayed there ever since. The hidden benefit has turned out to be this – I always have it on hand to pull out for my various wedding planning activities.

Last week I met with my florist to chat about flowers for the wedding ceremony. She didn’t have a great picture of the ceremony site with her, but of course I had one in my photo book! The soft cover made it easy to flip through the book to find the perfect photo that helped us plan the flower arrangements for the big day. She was so impressed with the idea of a personalized photo book that she decided to create her own to show off her work to clients.

The photo of me trying on my veil and wedding dress came in handy more than once. Not only did I get to show the bridal consultant who helped me with my first dress fitting, but I also pulled open the book for my hairstylist when we discussed how I would wear my hair for the wedding day. Of course I can’t show the photo of me in my dress just yet in case my fiancé logs on to the Shutterfly blog, but you’ll see it in the wedding book. I’m so looking forward to creating that one later this year!

And finally, I have to admit that I do bring out my wedding planning photo book every now and then when I catch up with friends and family. It’s so much fun to show them the wedding venue, build excitement for the great food we tasted and generally let them see how much fun we are having creating a special day – not just for us, but for all of our friends and family members.

Can’t wait!

Hi Amy, it’s hard for me to imagine you putting your 7×9 book in a purse! Beautiful photos and my very best wishes for your good days ahead.

This is a terrific idea Amy. Not only of making a Simple Path book of your wedding planning but that you did it with all the details of your planning. That is NEAT. I like the idea of carrying a 7×9 around in my purse too (Earl doesn’t realize how big our purses or bags can be!! LOL) I love the cover of your book – so magical. I can see where it would be very handy to pull out and show friends or florists etc. So you took a photo of the place where the ceremony will be held in your book, just to kind of reference the arrangement and the way the wedding party will line up? How brilliant is this! Lovin it! I’m thhinking I should make a 7×9 of my nieces and nephews to drop in my purse and carry everywhere and show off my little darlings!
    Great article.

What a great idea to use a Shutterfly simple path book as a reference book to plan your wedding. I can see if you are planning any big event and you are unable to be at the site of the party it would be a big help to remember the details of the local. Every detail of a party to be can be document so the “party planner” could have those important questions answered easily.

WOW, what a great idea! Now you’ll have a before and after book! Memories of the planning process and of course memories of the special event and knowing all the details and hard work you put it to makes it all the more extraordinary. Congratulations on your nuptials, can’t wait to see the after photos!

I love Shutterfly books and recommend them for all my clients; what a great idea to make one for wedding planning! Now, of course, I have to ask: have you hired a wedding photographer yet??

A book like this is such a great idea! Can’t you imagine the look on your consultants face when you tell them…”Look, see this is where we’ll be! or See…this is what I’m dreaming about…can you tell me if it will work?” With photography…and a photobook – it sure takes a lot of guessing out doesn’t it! Congrats on your upcoming wedding! I can’t wait to read more and see your books! :0)

This is a wonderful idea. I think all too often this part gets left out of wedding albums and memories all together. I am so impressed; I am sure this made some of the detail planning a little smoother as well. THanks for the inpsiration!
