Updating your Shutterfly Share site is a great way to get family and friends to come back and visit more often, but sometimes you just don’t have time to write a new journal entry or upload hundreds of new photos. Here are a few easy ways to change things up without a lot of effort.
1) Tag your pictures. Let friends and family know they’re in your Share site pictures by tagging them! It takes just seconds and it’s a great way to bring people back to your site. See details below.
2) Comment on your photos. Add a comment to one of your Share site photos. A short description, or a simple thought. Even better – a question! These extra bits of information will draw people in, and they take no time at all.
3) Post a quick note. Write a quick thought in your comments section! Again, it takes just minutes and is a fun quick way to draw people in. See details below.
4) Mini upload. New photos are a great way to encourage visits, but this doesn’t mean you have to upload hundreds at a time! Just grab a few of your favorites and upload them to your site. Takes much less time, and visitors will love it.
Keep in mind: if you want family and friends to keep visiting, make sure they receive updates about your Share site. All you need to do it invite them to become members of your site, then check to make sure your notification are set the way you want them. See details below.

These are great tips! I don’t like to feel to “pushy” with the auto notifications so I’m big on emailing the link to my site after a party, event or trip. Most of my family won’t even become a member because they are too lazy to register, but I keep trying.
I did not know about the featured picture “layout options”… I must go play now!

Thanks a lot for this info. I’ve not done much with my Share Site, and I think that’s because I am not comfortable in working with it. This will help – again, thanks.

Great tips Rachel. I have been trying to keep updating and changing things around at least weekly. Seems with summer, I haven’t had much time on mine or others. Like Tiffany, I don’t like to send the auto notifications; although I think its set to weekly on my summer site. I also send my family a link when I have made updates – they are forever lousy at commenting and visiting my sites. I shouldn’t be hard on my parents as they are still living in the dark ages and have a slow computer.
Share sites are such a great way to birng people in! Love the photo of your niece jumping!
And Ann’s site
Thanks for these tips.

I send out monthly updates….but if I update with new photos before and do an over hall of my main page, I will email the members and give a discription of what is new! Now I just have to get the members to leave more comments so I know forsure they saw everything!

love the screen shots! i spot a disney pic up there! Thanks for the tips. It is so frustrating that no one leaves comments. I added a page counter on the bottom of all my pages which helps to see what kind of traffic each page is getting to see where people are most interested even if they do not leave comments

I like it when people comment on my site but so many of my members quit commenting b/c they got so annoyed when they’d get an email for EVERY comment left. so sometimes all my members would get 20 emails – how annoying! i thought i had this turned off but apparently they still get the emails…any suggestions on getting this fixed? i love my share site and get lots of comments about it but no one likes to leave comments….
thanks!
