My top 10 quotes for youth sports photo books

« Back to Photo Book Ideas

Now that my nephews are playing in their local youth sports teams, I want to create a photo book that celebrates their fun times on the field. I also want the book to share life lessons a good game teaches us, like team spirit, attitude, hard work, compassion, and heart. To make these lessons “hit home”, I’ll borrow a few quotes from famous sports heroes. Pairing them with images of my nephews on the field will be the perfect way to capture favorite moments and share a little wisdom, too.

My ten favorite sports quotes

1. “Success – it’s what you do with what you’ve got.” Woody Hayes
2. “Life is ten percent what happens to you and ninety percent how you respond to it.” Lou Holtz
3. “The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a man’s determination.” Tommy Lasorda
4. “Courage is not the absence of fear, but simply moving on with dignity despite that fear.” Pat Riley
5. “Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.” John Wooden
6. “It’s not whether you get knocked down; it’s whether you get back up.” Vince Lombardi
7. “Do you know what my favorite part of the game is? The opportunity to play.” Mike Singletary
8. “It is not the size of a man but the size of his heart that matters.” Evander Holyfield
9. “The more I practice, the luckier I get.” Jerry Barber
10. “We didn’t lose the game; we just ran out of time.” Vince Lombardi

For more inspiration I’ll review these sports books created by Shutterfly Gallery members.

Where's my photo?
  1. Joey Says:

This is a great article and I may need to make my niece a soccer book or my nephew a baseball book. I love the sports quotes above and I love how people combine them in their books – they are so fitting with pictures. Its often times challenging getting that great shot, but they are fun to try!
This is one i saw at the gym, its not really for youths but its funny:
I have been on a diet for the past 2 weeks and all I have lost is 14 days – i forget who the author is off hand.
There’s another one abouut Determination I really like…….

Sports photography is not my thing, but your info is of good help for someone like me who needs a lot of hand-holding when trying to get passable sports photography.

more about Rachel B

Thank you for visiting “Picture More”, Shutterfly's Community Blog. My name is Rachel, and I come from a long line of photo enthusiasts. My grandparents kept a large (and heavy!) collection of family photo albums in their living room, which my sister and I loved looking through. My mother continued the tradition by becoming a hobby photographer (phrases like “smile, “hold that pose” and “let me get my camera” were a constant part of our lives). Now my sister and I are avid camera fans. She takes beautiful pictures of her children, and I enjoy capturing the many far-away places my husband and I visit. What I love about Shutterfly is that it helps me turn my photos into meaningful keepsakes like photo books, calendars, and photo gifts (I love my coasters, posters, mug and mouse pad!). My memories are now a part of my everyday life, not living in a shoe box or hard drive. And what I love about "Picture More" is that it will help us get even more creative with our pictures. I'm excited to exchange ideas with all of you!
