This year my mother is celebrating her 80th birthday. The elderly can be quite difficult to buy for, because they have reached a stage in their lives where people are more important to them than things. They also tend to look back on their past and reflect.
My gift to my mother will be a digital scrapbook of her life. As I’ve been collecting photos and tributes from family and friends who have known her for a very long time, I realize how thankful I am to have the opportunity of doing this now, while she is still alive to answer my questions. I’ve discovered things about her life that I never knew and seen some very special photos for the first time.
Creating a photo book with a “Thankful” theme is good for the soul. It makes you reflect on what is important in your life, and often you’ll find that it is your loved ones who are at the top of the list.
Jen White, one of our Digital Scrapper album designers, has created a stunning template album called ‘Thankful For You.’ Using a digital kit by Paislee Press called ‘At Home,’ she has shared pictures of the people who she is thankful for – her family! You can view the book online here.
With minimal effort, and using design software such as Adobe Photoshop Elements, you can recreate this template album with your own photos and words. To learn more about digital scrapbooking, go to our website, www.scrappersguide.com, and join our ‘Learn Digital Scrapbooking Class.’
If Photoshop isn’t for you, don’t let that stop you from creating a thank you photo book. Check out this example featuring easy-to-use Shutterfly templates.

This is a wonderful idea and your mother will love each and every page. I did this for my mom’s 85th Birthday and she enjoys looking at it over and over. Thank you for all the ideas for making another.

I signed up for the scrappersguide PSE class but still haven’t taken it. I can’t think of a greater gift than this. A book filled with photos and memories. Happy 80th to your mom!
These pages are beautiful.
