We’d like to welcome Erin who has experience in saying bittersweet goodbyes to share with us her ideas for going away gifts for close friends. She just recently sent her good friends off to Florida and wanted to give them a gift that would always remind them of home. She did just that with the perfect gift, let’s check it out!
Last month one of my good friends and her fiancé packed up and moved to Florida. These type of life experiences are always bittersweet. We of course are thrilled for this exciting chapter in their lives, but are also super bummed that they had to leave us all behind in Indiana. At least we will have a fun (and warm place to visit) in the winter!
When I thought about a going away gift for them I knew I had to get something that would remind them of home, and the good times that they’ve had with friends…just in case they ever get home sick. To me, that perfect gift was a Shutterfly Photo Book!
These days photo books are so easy and inexpensive to make. You can pull pictures from your phone, Facebook and Instagram accounts, and simply select one of the many book templates to customize your very own book. You can be as simple or complex as you like. There are hundreds of options to choose from when making your book come to life.
For this particular book I chose a storytelling style with a Potts Design. I loved all of the colors and page layouts! Then I included some of my favorite quotes about friendship to add as a caption for a personal touch. I also made sure to add additional text where appropriate to describe the photo’s occasion.
Once the layout was set I chose to upgrade the photo book to include a hard cover and glossy pages. Can I just say how impressed I was when I received the book? I absolutely loved it, and only wish I would have ordered an extra copy for myself. Noting this for my next photo book 🙂
The best part about this whole experience is when I gave my friend the photo book it gave her goosebumps, literally (I saw them!). Now that is a powerful gift! To know she appreciated and loved the book as much as I did meant the world to me. And I know it’s something she will keep forever.
I can’t wait to go to Florida this winter to visit, soak up the sun…and look at the photo book!
